The Keats Letters Project
November 28, 2016 - November 28, 2017
The Keats Letters Project chronicles and engages Keats’s epistolary writing 200 years after it happened. On the 200-year anniversary of each letter, the KLP reproduces the letter, usually via already existing material like Harvard’s MS images or public domain print texts, along with some contextual musings about the letter, its history, and the nature of Keats’s literary life at that moment in the past. We then post a response (or responses) to the letter by scholars, poets, and/or writers, thinkers, artists, etc. of other stripes. The site thus draws attention to the specific temporal moment of each letter’s first writing and movements, while also affording the opportunity for us to reevaluate them 200 years on. The Keats Letters project is thus a pro-ject in the etymological sense, a throwing forth of voices and texts–where they land in the future remains always subject to chance, to playfulness, and to continued experimentation. We hope that you will join us in these adventures over the next few years.
